"I HAVE A DREAM" ... On this day 20 years ago, Nov. 6th, 1993, one of the most influential Techno DJs & Producers in Europe, TORSTEN FENSLAU, died after a car crash. As one of the founders of HR3 ClubNight, DJ @ Lopo's Werkstatt/Darmstadt & Dorian Gray Frankfurt since the 80s, he was not just "one of many" DJ's spinnin' the energetic House/Deep Bleep Techno stuff comin' from the UK, Belgium & Netherlands, the Detroit & Chicago Stuff from the U.S., & German EBM/Techno Classics. His sets were as MAGIC as the music he & Jens Zimmermann produced with Jürgen "Nosie" Katzmann, Peter Zweier & Alexander Abraham, Oliver Lieb & many others (Abfahrt, Tyrell Corp., Out Of The Ordinary, Klangwerk, LDC, Force Legato, just to name a few).. Working with intros & jingles, movie sounds & soundtracks, & mixing his old 80s favorites as well as upfront stuff from all over the world that was melting to a powerful & unique symbiosis at the end of the eighties, he soon was called the "intro king". It was always "thrilling" to hear his next set, the next production, Torsten & his "DreamTeam" kept in the music what's lost in most of todays superficial & tedious bullshit they call techno but seems to be made for kids on drugs: => SPIRIT - PASSION - LOVE - AUTHENTICITY - ORIGINALITY - REALNESS - "BALLS" <= With his tragic death at the age of only 29, the european scene lost one of it's true innovators, capable of creating an incredible tension through his DJ-sets that were much more than "just" the vinyls he played. _______________________________________________________________ As big fan & follower of Torsten & his works since 1990, i felt the need to create this MegaMix, completely from the original 12"es & focussing strictly on the years BEFORE the industry completely hi-jacked the phenomenon & started selling a primitive and trivial imitation of a former innovating underground movement in candy-colored washing-powder packaging saying "plik-plok, buy me, i am techno, i'm trendy". Intended as several-hour tribute mix with the best tracks of the end-80s/beginning 90s techno house & dance scene, i quickly realized that four or five hours won't be enough to really "get into magic" the way it was, to get sucked deeper into it or to draw a fairly representative picture of the massive & real spirit that transcended everything; finally, i selected more than 350 records bringin' this MegaMix to > 1200 minutes length, focussing on many of the best records ever made in that genre; staying absolutely true to the game, with the original spirit of '89/90 that Torsten brought us through HR3 ClubNight, Dorian Gray, & his Productions - fasten your seat belts, lean back, lift off and … Abfahrt - denn dies ist unsere Traumreise .. THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC, TORSTEN, You left a gap, not even close to be closed after 20 years... - e-control, November 6th, 2013 [due to technical limitations, the 20h 37m long mix had to be splitted in 4 parts, for proper consuming, keep in mind these parts belong together in the direction as numbered; and if all interested listeners have at least half that fun as i had creating this mix, it's a damn phreakin' lot!]
